"Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can committ."    - Bill Cosby

Corbin is 19 months olds....where has the time gone?
January 05, 2010

Our last entry was when Corbin turned a year old...boy have we been busy since then. Corbin is such a little man now. He is quite amazing.

Since Corbin's 1st birthday, he has excelled so much. He literally RUNS everywhere and has the "can't sit still" syndrome. He can say just about anything. He now calls everyone by name - and with as many family members as we have that is quite an accomplishment. He has just started saying "Love You" which melts my heart every single time. He loves to color, read and learn. He started going to preschool a few days a week and he loves it. He learns so much and gets to play with kids his age. He has learned his vowels (although it took us months to figure out what he was saying when he said "a o u i e o". Corbin still loves music. Anytime he hears a beat of any kind his body automatically starts moving. It starts with the shoulders and usually ends with his knees going in and out towards eachother. He is a big singer too. His favorite songs are "The ABC's", "God is so good (with an emphasis on the good)", "Deep and Wide", and "The Wheels on the Bus". Jon is not extremely proud of this one but his other love is....shoes! He loves to wear all shoes but right now he likes my shoes the best because they are smaller and he can actually walk in them. So, Corbin wearing high heels is a common occurrence at our house.

On November 17, 2009, Corbin became a big brother to Julieann Olivia Johnson. He absolutely LOVES his "sissy". He constantly checks on her and makes sure that she always gets at least 1000 kisses a day. Some of the kisses would actually be classified as licks but she takes in all! He has even been known to find her a bottle when she is "hungry". I prayed that he would be a good big brother and he is a GREAT big brother. I know he will forever take care of her and look out for her. I hope they stay best friends!

Corbin has been growing like a weed. He is now 29 pounds and around 34 inches tall. I am afraid he is going to pass me up soon. Julieann is tall for her age as well, so I guess my children will all be bigger than me. Corbin already wears a size 7/8 shoe! I am thinking about putting a brick on his head but he would just think that was funny.

This year was Corbin's 2nd Christmas and it was so much fun. He actually got into the whole spirit of Christmas. He learned to say "Happy Birthday Jesus" and "Ho Ho Ho". So I guess he had all the bases covered. He of course received more gifts than he knows what to do with and our house looks like Toys R Us threw up in it. His favorite gifts where the keyboard with microphone from Nonna and Papa. He sings and screams all day long in his new microphone. Let's just say he loves to hear his own voice. He also got a tent from MeMe and Poppy, which is great for him but he likes for Mommy and Daddy to get in too. That would be fine if the only entrance was not a a tiny tube! He is so fun to play with!

He is turning into a wonderful little "man" already and our days are so much brighter with him in our lives.

CORBIN IS ONE!!!
May 23, 2009

The big day has finally arrived after many months of anticipation and party planning. It is hard to believe that this amazing little boy was given to us a year ago today. This has been a year full of so many wonderful memories. We watched our baby boy smile for the first time, laugh for the first time, say his first words, learn to crawl, take his first steps, get his first teeth, and grow into this awesome little man! Most people are sad for their child's 1st birthday (and I'm not going to say I didn't have a break down or two) but this birthday was so happy for us because we could see what a wonderful future we were going to have as a family.

Corbin's 1st birthday was nothing short of magical. It was a lot of work but it was all worth it in the end. All of Corbin's little friends and all his family were there to celebrate with him which is what made the day so incredible. Even his great-grandparents from Texas were there! There were rubber duckies EVERYWHERE! We had duck shaped rice crispy treats, duck shaped sandwiches, duck shaped ice-cubes, a duck shaped cake, a bathtub cake with duckies in it, a swimming poo, with duckies....duckies, duckies, duckies. Needless to say we have a lot of duckies at our house now!

Corbin had the best time at his party. He loved all his gifts but most important loved spending the day with everyone who loves him. He is truly a blessed little boy!

Ok enough about the party...lets move on to milestones. Corbin is full-on walking now. He walks everywhere. He stills has his "drunk walking" moments but for the most part he is doing awesome. He has several more words he is working on now. He is mastering "thank you", "more", "eat", "hey" and a few other words we are still trying to make sense of. He is very good at barking like a dog. I think he truly believes he can talk to the dogs.

Food...one of Corbin's favorite things! He has moved onto whole milk and is completely off of formula (raise)! He is also completely off of the bottle. He was really into chicken for awhile but we think he is taking a break from chicken right now??? He loves pancake and scrambled eggs. He is a breakfast man! He also loves grapes, yogurt and cherries. He is growing like a weed!

Corbin still has 8 teeth but we are expecting more any minute now...at least we hope. He has been teething with his molars for a few weeks now.

There is so much to tell about Corbin but that is pretty much Corbin in a nutshell for his 1st year! Year #2 here we come!

11 Months Old
April 23, 2009

I seriously cannot believe that Our Baby Boy is 11 MONTHS OLD! When I think back to this time last year, we were anxiously awaiting his arrival. I was as big as a bus and had no idea how much love and joy would be brought into our home in just one short month! What a miracle!

People cannot believe that Corbin is only 11 months old. He is so tall and so smart already. He has really taken to reading. He loves to calm down at the end of the night before bed time and listen to Mommy or Daddy read some of his favorite books. He is also starting to notice music more and more...that's his Daddy in him. Everytime he hears a beat, he gets those legs moving. If you're lucky, he will even throw in a shoulder shake for you!!!

Corbin is pointing at EVERYTHING! He is learning something new everyday. He loves to point at the birds and especially the airplanes. We see those a lot because we live close to the airport. He has officially learned how to turn off the TV and he thinks he can change the channel with the remote (even though he is not supposed to touch it).

I posted a little while back about Corbin taking his first steps! Well, he is still progressing with his walking. He goes farther and farther everyday. Be careful because if he can get a hold of one of your hands, you will be walking a marathon for the rest of the day! He loves to walk everywhere. I will have to post a picture of him so proud of himself after he walks by himself. He gets so excited. We think he is saying "yeah" but it is so high pitched we aren't sure which goes along with the very aggressive clapping. Too cute!

Our little man is also getting a bit clingy...but I would be lying if I said I didn't love his sweet little hugs. That has to be the best feeling in the world.

Corbin is also getting used to solid foods. Stage 3 baby foods were a NO-GO in his book. He wants the real stuff. He is a big fan of chicken, ham, grapes and bananas in yogurt.

Just one more month until our Splish Splash: Rubber Ducky Style Party! We can't wait!

I AM GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!

Mom and Dad told me that I am going to be a big brother sometime in November of this year. They bought me a shirt that said "OOPS they did it again, I am going to be a Big Brother" and they had me wear it in front of all the family. It was pretty funny. Some people got it right away but it took some people a lot longer to get it. I am excited to have a new baby brother or sister. I love to play with kids and now I am going to have my own play buddy forever! I can't wait to be a Big Brother because Mom and Dad say I am going to be very good at it.

Love,

Corbin

Corbin took his 1st steps!!!
April 09, 2009

Corbin has been working on walking for quite some time now. We actually thought he may walk before he learned to crawl. He just started crawling right before he turned 9 months old. He has been able to stand on his own for several months. He just needed to gain some coordination and balance. Corbin would take steps while holding on to BOTH hands but would not let go for anything. Jon and I started working with him on taking a few steps unassisted back and forth between us, but it was more of a diving game to him! Then...all of a sudden on a Thursday night...I guess he felt brave and he started letting go of our hands and he took his very 1st steps. We couldn't have been prouder parents.

He walked his little legs off that night by taking 4 or 5 steps here and there until he just crashed. He continued doing this for a few days and just last night he walked clear across the room ALL BY HIMSELF!

So let me be the first to say, Corbin started walking at 10 months old! Way to go baby....we are so very proud of you!
